Cara and Rhodes ride a pig near the market in downtown Seattle.

Cousins Cara, Rhodes, Emily, and Ben are silly during our weekend together at the lake.

The last swim party of the season at Uncle Stephen and Aunt Dianne's. Rhodes and Joshua with Cara and Ben behind them.

Cara's first day of Kindergarten! (August '07)

Rhodes and Cara in their Easter outfits. (Finally taken in August!)

Trip to the Northwest, July '07

We had a fantastic time visiting our good friends Gail and James and their kids Emma and Liam in Oregon. The kids are great friends: Emma is about 20 months older than Cara; and you would never believe it by looking at them, but Liam is almost a year younger than Rhodes.

At Camp 18 in Elsie, Oregon -- an old logging camp turned restaurant and tourist attraction.

At the beach -- the cold-even-in-July beach -- on the Pacific.

Eating ice cream in Seaside, Oregon.

In front of Multnomah Falls along the Columbia River Gorge.

Cara, Rhodes, Emma, and Liam proudly display their medals from the Kids Fun Run. They all did great, trying their best and finishing the race!

Watching the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.

Having fun at the game.

Having fun on the rides at the base of the Seattle Space Needle.

Even More Pictures

Cara chose to be the "Paper Bag Princess" when she had the chance to go to school as her favorite character from her favorite book. We were quite impressed as we expected her to want to dress more as a frilly, girly-girl princess! :)

Cara and Rhodes have fun at breakfast one morning.

The kids had a great time at Tennis Camp. Rhodes especially was hooked on the game!

Cara's favorite summer activity -- Ballet and Art Workshop. Here she is in character as a baby doll come-to-life, standing in front of her artwork from the week.

One of my new favorite places to be -- Chinatown in San Francisco.

The Easter Bunny (Aunt Connie) surprises Cara, Rhodes, and their cousins: Joshua, Jack, Austin, Sally, Ben (by the bunny), and Emily (up front trying to ignore the bunny). Rhodes is somewhere back there trying to see who the bunny is. (Aunt Dianne is trying to get a picture of Emily with the bunny. That didn't happen.)

Cara and Rhodes search a tree for more Easter eggs.

Rhodes really wants to help Cara open her birthday gifts. Cara's 5th, June 12th.

Cara and her friends at her 'British-style' tea party for her 5th birthday.

Cousins Cara and Sally enjoy a pot of tea together.

March 14, 2007
After traveling around the United States visiting families who are waiting for daughters from China, I ended up in a small place called Etta, Mississippi. There I met John and Kathryn Scott and their children Cara and Rhodes. Today was relaxing; spent time playing in the yard with the children.

Flew to Grand Bahama Island on an airplane! First trip where I had a window to see out of, instead of being stuffed in an envelope. It was a lot of fun, and the ocean was gorgeous around the island.

Enjoying relaxing on the beach! It's incredible here! I really like having the hotel restaurant as a hut on the beach. I think it was a good idea to stay in a local-owned, 10-room hotel right on the beach like this. Doris and her family have treated me like royalty!

Yesterday, we went exploring, kayaking, swimming (brr -- it's cold). Today, the guys went deep sea fishing. I hung out on the beach with the other ladies.

Returned to Mississippi after a fantastic vacation. Time to stuff myself back in the envelope and be on my way to another May06DTC family!

Playing Catch-Up

With the ever-increasing wait for Anna, along with the busy-ness of life, I've neglected this blog. I'm going to play catch-up by posting pictures from this year.

Back in March, John and I went to the Bahamas -- Grand Bahama Island -- with my sister Marla, bro-in-law Page, brother Stephen, and sis-in-law Dianne. We took this picture under the "Andy's" sign because it was my brother's Andy's birthday, and we had hoped he and his wife Connie could travel with us.

This vacation was incredibly fun and relaxing! I hope we can do this together again, maybe on a regular basis. The island was gorgeous and the Ocean Pearl Resort was a great place to stay; 10 rooms facing the ocean with a small restaurant right on the beach.
